Licenses (Initial or Reinstatement)

This certification is for educators applying for an Initial or Reinstatement Wyoming Educator License in the following areas:

  1. Classroom Teachers
  2. School Administrators (Superintendents and Principals)
  3. Professional Services Personnel (School Psychologist, School Social Worker, and School Counselor)

General Application Requirements

Classroom Teacher
A Wyoming Standard Educator License for a Classroom Teacher (including library media specialist) is valid for five years. An individual who holds this license is eligible to teach in any Wyoming school district in accordance with his or her level of preparation.

  1. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed. 
  2. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of an educator preparation program from an accredited institution of higher education. (Download Form Here)
  3. Praxis II scores (Elementary Education, Social Studies Comprehensive, and Early Childhood applicants ONLY)
  4. Verification of Work History – If you obtain a license in another state through a non-traditional route or alternative method, you may be eligible for licensure in Wyoming if you have taught 3 out of the last 6 years in the state where you are fully licensed and endorsed. Student teaching is not accepted as experience. (Download Form Here)

School Administrators (Superintendents and Principals)
A Wyoming Standard Educator License with a School Administrator endorsement is valid for five years. An individual who holds this license is eligible to serve as an administrator in any Wyoming school district in accordance with his or her level of preparation.

  1. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed. 
  2. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of an educator preparation program from an accredited institution of higher education. (Download Form Here)
  3. Verification of a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher or in the related services. (Download Form Here)
  4. Verification of Work History – If you obtain a license in another state through a non-traditional route or alternative method, you may be eligible for licensure in Wyoming if you have taught 3 out of the last 6 years in the state where you are fully licensed and endorsed. Student teaching is not accepted as experience. (Download Form Here)

Professional Services Personnel (School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or School Counselor)
A Wyoming Standard Educator License with a Related Services endorsement is valid for five years. An individual who holds this license is eligible to serve in any Wyoming school district in the related service area of his or her preparation. 

  1. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed. 
  2. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of a master’s degree for school counselor and school social worker licensure or completion of an education specialist degree for school psychology licensure from an accredited institution of higher education. (Download Form Here)
  3. Copy of current Wyoming license in the related field from the Professional Licensing Board verifying full-licensure.
  4. Verification of Work History – If you obtain a license in another state through a non-traditional route or alternative method, you may be eligible for licensure in Wyoming if you have taught 3 out of the last 6 years in the state where you are fully licensed and endorsed. Reinstatement
A Reinstatement is for any applicant who has previously held a standard teaching license in Wyoming and is seeking reinstatement of that expired license.

  1. Reinstatement applicants must meet all of the renewal requirements listed on their previously held Wyoming license/certificate. A complete list of those requirements can be found on the applicant’s previously issued license. For example, reinstatement applicants must complete five semester hours of either PTSB-approved workshop credits or coursework from an accredited institution of higher education and must meet any additional requirements that fall under current licensing requirements for their endorsement area listed above.
