Add Endorsement (to a License)

This application packet is for Teachers, Administrators (Superintendents and Principals), and Professional Services Personnel (School Psychologist, School Social Worker, and School Counselor) applying to add an endorsement to a Wyoming Educator License in the following areas:
  1. Any Teaching Content Area through Institutional Recommendation
  2. Adding an endorsement as a School Administrator
  3. Adding an endorsement in a Related Services area
  4. Alternative or Non-Traditional School/At-Risk Youth Program Teacher
  5. Institutional or Private Residential Facility Teacher
  6. Any Teaching Content Area completed through the Exception Authorization Option#4 (Praxis)
  7. Expanding grade levels through completing a district-approved practicum
  8. Adding Other Endorsements (Computer Science Microcredential, Elementary Education Math Specialist, Hunters Education Virtual Educator, or Work Based Learning Coordinator)

General Application Requirements

  1. Any Teaching Content Area through Institutional Recommendation (IR)Adding an endorsement in a teaching content area(s) – Endorsements added via Institutional Recommendation have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added. NOTE: Adding an endorsement through an Institutional Recommendation requires the completion of an approved program through an accredited institution of higher education.
    1. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of an educator preparation program from an accredited institution of higher education. (Download Form Here)
    2. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed.
    3. Praxis II scores (Elementary Education, Social Studies Comprehensive, and Early Childhood applicants ONLY)
  2. Adding an endorsement as a School Administrator – Endorsements added via Institutional Recommendation have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added.
    1. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of an educator preparation program from an accredited institution of higher education. (Download Form Here)
    2. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed.
  3. Adding an endorsement in a Related Services areaEndorsements added via Institutional Recommendation have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added.
    1. Institutional Recommendation indicating completion of a master’s degree or higher for School Counselors and School Social Workers or completion of an education specialist degree or higher for School Psychologists. (Download Form Here)
    2. Official transcripts with degree(s)/endorsement listed.
  4. Alternative or Non-Traditional School/At-Risk Youth Program Teacher (At-Risk)An endorsement for an Alternative/Non-Traditional School or At-Risk Youth Program has the same validity dates as the license to which it is added. An individual who holds this endorsement is eligible to teach in a designated program in any content area at the grade level for which he or she is endorsed. NOTE: Applicants with this endorsement are only eligible to add this endorsement at the grade level(s) they will be teaching. Secondary teachers must teach at least one (1) course within their endorsement area(s).
    1. Currently holds a valid Wyoming Standard Educator License.
    2. Verification of Employment by a Wyoming school district offering an Alternative Education, Non-Traditional, or At-risk Youth Program. (Download Form Here)
    3. Verification of Assignment verifying the applicant is assigned to teach in at least one content area in which the applicant is currently endorsed.
    4. Submit verification of a professional development plan that addresses the following:
      1. Knowledge and skills in affective behaviors, which should include goal setting, conflict resolution, communication, responsibility, and self-esteem;
      2. Ability to develop and remediate curriculum and concepts to meet individual student needs; and
      3. Knowledge and skills in working with behavior management specific to the student population.
  5. Institutional or Private Residential Facility Teacher – An endorsement as an Institutional/Private Residential Facility Teacher has the same validity dates as the license to which it is added. An individual who holds this endorsement is eligible to teach in any content area at any grade level at an approved private facility.
    1. Currently holds a valid Wyoming Standard Educator License.
    2. Verification of Employment by a Wyoming Institutional/Private School Facility. (Download Form Here)
    3. Verification of Assignment – verifying the applicant is assigned to teach in at least one content area in which the applicant is currently endorsed.
    4. Submit verification of a professional development plan that addresses the following:
      1. Working with students with disabilities or the development and implementation of an Individual Educational Plan (IEP);
      2. The ability to develop and remediate curriculum to meet individual student needs;
      3. Communication and interpersonal skills specific to the student population and agency setting; and
      4. Utilizing behavior management specific to the student population and agency.
  6. Any Teaching Content Area completed through the Exception Authorization Option#4 (Praxis) -Endorsements added via this route have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added.
    1. Currently holds a valid Exception Authorization (EA) Option #4. This route is ONLY available if an applicant holds or has held an EA Option #4 for the endorsement area being requested.
    2. Copy of Praxis II results for the appropriate PTSB-approved Praxis II exam for the specific content area(s) seeking to be added.
  7. Expanding grade levels through completing a district-approved practicum – Endorsements added via district practicum hours to expand grade levels have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added.
    1. Letter from school district representative verifying completion of the equivalent of a three (3) semester hour practicum experience at the grade level(s) under the supervision of an educator holding an endorsement at the grade level(s).
    2. Practicum experience must meet PTSB guidelines.
  8. Adding Other Endorsements (Computer Science Microcredential, Hunters Education Virtual Educator, or Work Based Learning Coordinator)This application is intended for educators seeking to add one of the following endorsement areas: Computer Science Microcredential, Hunters Education Virtual Educator, or Work Based Learning Coordinator. An individual who holds a Standard Educator License with an endorsement in a specific teaching content area(s) is eligible to teach in any Wyoming school district in accordance with his or her level of preparation.
    1. Certificate of Completion or Letter of Completion.
  9. CoachingA Coaching endorsement has the same validity dates as the license to which it is added. Any educator who holds a coaching endorsement in at least one sport is eligible to be an assistant coach in any sport.
    1. Currently holds a valid Wyoming Standard Educator License.
    2. Current Hands-on or Hybrid 1st Aid/CPR Training – applicants must submit copies of current, valid (front and back if applicable) 1st Aid/CPR card(s) OR an original, signed letter of verification in place of 1st Aid/CPR card(s) which must include: dates of the course(s), instructor’s contact information, and expiration date(s) of the 1st Aid/CPR certification(s). This certification may include online components but must also include hands-on demonstration training.
    3. Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries (equivalent to 2 semester hours). This certification may include online components but must also include hands-on demonstration training.
    4. Foundations of Coaching, Fundamentals of Coaching, or Coaching Principles.
    5. Prior Coaching Experience or “Theory of Each Specific Sport”.
  10. Any Teaching Content Area through Work History – Endorsements added via Work History have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added.

    2. Copies of all appropriate licenses that coincide with all dates of employment.
  11. Request a re-evaluation of your PTSB records – An individual who holds a Standard Educator License with an endorsement in a specific teaching content area(s) is eligible to teach in any Wyoming school district in accordance with his or her level of preparation. Endorsements added via re-evaluation have the same validity dates as the license to which they are added. Submission of this application does not guarantee the requested endorsement will be added to your Standard License.
    1. Letter requesting your records to be re-evaluated for the area listed above to determine if you meet the requirements to add this endorsement area to your Standard License. Please be sure to include why you feel that you have met the requirements to add this area to your license and include any supporting documentation (e.g., official transcripts, test scores, or other state licenses).
